etc publications host a workshop about magazines in space
at the Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm, Sweden.

More and more often we are faced with the challenge of communicating our ideas, contents and products in space. We like the challenge, since it requires a more complex thinking and designing and since it combines so many different disciplines which is nice. That is why we also took the challenge to the students at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm.

First we did a presentation of our recent work. Then we had a look around the school. And then we handed out the brief.

We brought a pile of magazines, Mostly content heavy magazines, serious, interesting content presented in rather boring ways. Some others were just silly.

The students were working in teams to first analyse the magazine (structure, content, text and visual language, ...), then to decide for one story that they would like to turn into an exhibition. Then they would define their core approach for presenting the subject in space, create a basic structure / storyline and finally realise a sample design for one exhibit in the space of the school.
