Three years after the G8-summit meeting Genoa is, in the course of the historical expansion of the EU, set
into the spotlight as the cultural capital of Europe. Against this backdrop Genoa etc. delineates a quest, with
the city of Genoa as the starting point, moving on to Europe in theory and finally approaching some labora-
tories of European identity on a local plane.

Guides to this quest are an international group of photographers, activists, scientists, illustrators, artists,
journalists, designers and theorists, as well as personalities in public life - for instance the former advisor of
foreign affairs to Bill Clinton or the president of the port authority of Genoa (1996-2004).

As co-publisher Nicolas Bourquin says: In view of the historical European expansion the contributions to
Genoa etc., which are brought together not only from Europe but also from Asia and the USA, incite to
actively take part in the designing of the New Europe.

Editors: Nicolas Bourquin, Sven Ehmann, Krystian Woznicki
